Our story
Our paths crossed about three years ago when Sonja moved to Kuopio and we began working at the same place, caring for acute and intensive care patients. Soon after getting to know each other we realised we shared similar values in our work and dreams about what we might do in the future.
We had noticed that the area lacked a front-line emergency style service and home visits, which are often requested. So, we rolled up our sleeves and set about turning our own dreams into our own company!
We felt we wanted to offer an 'own vet' service – a bit like city vets did "back in the day". That’s where the name Soma – your own came from. And Soma is also our small but homely clinic, built sustainably by renovating old, used school containers for a new life.
And here we are: brand-new business owners, facing something entirely new. Since setting up a company is rarely straightforward or easy, we feel incredibly lucky to have people close to us who have supported and helped along the way. We are also grateful for all the encounters where people believed in our idea and vision, trusting it would grow into a wonderful story. Your support and faith in us have been an inexhaustible source of strength on our journey into entrepreneurship!
